Responsible contact for translation mistakes Thread poster: Claudia Krysztofiak

I'd really appreciate to have only one or two responsible coordinators to contact, when I find a mistake in a translated Proz.com page. For German, there are currently 27 team members (!) for translation listed, some with real names, some with funny pseudonyms. I really appreciate their enthusiasm and hard work. But someone should be responsible for checking and quality.

The instructions at the bottom of the translated pages (German version) tell me:
"Sollten Sie in den bereits übersetzten Inhalten Fehler finden, bitten wir Sie, die oben genannten Koordinatoren diesbezüglich zu informieren."
If you find a mistake in the translation, please inform the coordinators listed above.
Please name one or two coordinators who are responsibe for QA. Then I will be happy to send them the funny translation mistakes I found. ▲ Collapse | | | There is a localization 'team' | Feb 12, 2009 |
Hi Claudia

or you could consider opening a thread in the German Community to discuss any sticky points maybe. We did that.

Thanks a lot for the link Iai an. I actually did contact that team before but I did not know where to find the info.
And the members of this team or many of them are not in the list of the translation team members given at the foot of each page. For example, both Endre Both and Klaus Hermann are not in the list of translators shown at the foot of the pages.
This seems to be bug or a serious misunderstanding on my side.

My suggestion:
1. Please change the bottom line of the German pages from:
"... Sollten Sie in den bereits übersetzten Inhalten Fehler finden, bitten wir Sie, die oben genannten Koordinatoren diesbezüglich zu informieren."
to:
"... Sollten Sie in den bereits übersetzten Inhalten Fehler finden, bitten wir Sie, die zuständigen Koordinatoren (Link to the team page) diesbezüglich zu informieren."
2. Please look into the list of translators given on the translated pages. It is not at all congruent with the team members. ▲ Collapse | | | Maria Castro Portugal Local time: 11:20 Member (2008) English to Portuguese + ... MODERATOR SITE LOCALIZER Team Coordinator | Feb 12, 2009 |
Each localization team is supposed to have a team coordinator. He/she is responsible for QA. It seems that there is no team coordinator for the German so try to contact, again, one of the members. Or, as lai an suggested, open a thread in the German community. You can also submit a support request.

If you follow the link Lesley has given above, you will clearly see, that there is indeed a coordinator. I already contacted him.
But that does not solve the mystery why there is no link to the translation team page from translated pages and why the people listed below the translated pages are not congruent with the actual list of team members.
Since this is a forum for suggestions, I hope somebody responsible for listening to suggestions will read this thread and react to it. This thread is not addressed at the German translation team. It is for the team, that is responsible for a user-friendly web-design.

No worries, Claudia.
It's under 'Directories (-> Teams) at the top of the page.
