I\'ve been answering KudoZ questions for about a month and I\'ve noticed that the behavior of translators varies according to the language pair.
I\'ve been really put off by the Arabic forum. No one ever \"agrees\" with anyone else. They simply repost the same answer over and over. Sometimes they put petty \"disagrees\" about a minor point of transliteration (something that in, say, the French or Spanish forums would be addressed with an \"agree, but this is the correct spe... I\'ve been really put off by the Arabic forum. No one ever \"agrees\" with anyone else. They simply repost the same answer over and over. Sometimes they put petty \"disagrees\" about a minor point of transliteration (something that in, say, the French or Spanish forums would be addressed with an \"agree, but this is the correct spelling...\"). None of this is in the least helpful to the asker. If I am put off by it, it is likely that the askers will be too and will find somewhere else to ask their questions.
This is a call to my fellow Arabic translators to explore the KudoZ site and note how translators in other language pairs behave.
On a more positive note, what first drew me to the site was the unbelievable sense of camaraderie that I noticed in the Spanish forums. And in general, I\'ve been impressed with how helpful everyone is here.

Dear Eileema,
I am mainly translating legal documents from Arabic into french and vice versa.
In the legal field, how you translitterate (write Arabic names with Roman letters) an Arabic name can change people\'s life. Would you agree if i call you Ilema, Elima, Eeliima,IIleema and so on. Only if i can write your surname with the Arabic letters all these errors will go away.

With regard to the previous:
Minor comments will fit into the \"agree\" space easily, and will be less confusing to the asker than a series of apparent disagreements masking a fundamental agreement. This usage is not uncommon.

Thanks for your reply. As I\'ve said, one can agree and add a note. There\'s sufficient space to say \"Yes, but in French spell it such a way...\" When I agree with someone else\'s answer but want to make a longer comment, I hit \"agree\" and then submit an answer with subject \"a comment.\" I just think this is the more helpful thing to do. I think that this is nearly as important as submitting the answer in the first place - we, the translators, should indicate to the asker which answer we think is most correct.
