French term

Fonds de cuves

French to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing
The following is from what I believe to be a company newsletter, which gives fuel and environment-related figures for last year:

"Huile combustible 50 tonnes
**Fonds de cuves** exportés 100 tonnes
Fuel lourd consommé 300 tonnes"

The company does export 'waste oil' for use in other processes overseas, so I'm assuming that the 'fonds de cuves' refers to this, i.e. the oil that's left in the bottom of the tank. Can anyone confirm this and/or suggest an English translation?

Many TIA,

Vicky

"slops"

"slops" may be used in the trade?

We can remove the inverted commas - it's refinery jargon fiar enough!

tank bottom residue

Although tank bottom residue is probably sludge or dregs, this is a little less 'familiar'.
