French term

enfants-supports

French to English Bus/Financial Advertising / Public Relations
I'm finding it tricky to find the right translation for this word from a text where it is stated that a "demande de décret concernant "l’utilisation" des enfants dans les campagnes de Publicité" states substantially that:

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

companies are rubbing their hands in glee because they barely have to lift their little fingers to find suitable children for the job, given that parents are queuing up to sign up their offspring with the agencies

"queuing up"

Perhaps you could say something along the lines of "companies needn't look far for their young stars as children are queueing up to star in their ads"

Oops, two "stars"

"appear in their ads"
"feature in their ads"
"advertise their products"

"Sandwich-board kids" ??? Confidence rating of 1 but why not!

After Polyglot's comment, perhaps "parents are lining up their children..."
Peer comment(s):

neutral polyglot45 : the kids are not queuing up but the parents - sandwich board - nice

children used as advertising medium

I'm not sure of the best English wording, but "enfants-supports" is simply a shortcut for "enfants utilisés comme support publicitaire".
Peer comment(s):

disagree B D Finch : Incorrect use of "medium", the medium would be television, press, posters etc.

OK, thanks. However, "support publicitaire" is used exactly the same way in French, not usually qualifying a child. It was done on purpose, I think. But it is not very important to render the idea, if the wording does not sound well in English.

to find children to use for advertising campaigns

they have to invest less and less to find children to use in advertising campaigns

Feel this is a tad closer to the sense and feel of the original than "find suitable children for the job" .
