Here's what I hope you will find an interesting poser: can (or could, in the past) "ida" ever mean "passing/departure" in the sense of death? The text dates from 1526, two years after the death of Vasco da Gama, Conde de Vidigueira.

Here's the context:
"Quanto ao que toca a guerra, já antes da ida do Conde da Vidigueira, que Deus haja, tinha mandado que se lhe fizesse a maior [e] rija que se lhe pudesse fazer..."

"Passing" would make sense in the context. I look forward to your thoughts.
