Selected
accepting the [possible] risks and rewards entailed by his or her personal choices
I've included a translation of the surrounding text in order to better contextualize my suggestion.
What is really being referred to here are "risk and rewards" (a common phrase in English, in both business and general contexts).
"Bonus and onus" is not idiomatic English.

: This seems rather awkward here, and therefore it is hard to see how this suggestion would justify such a high CL.

Discussion
There are, in fact 1180 hits for the phrase "bonus and onus" in Google. Accounting for repetitions, the "real number" probably falls well under 1000.
This is not a lot for what supposedly is a common phrase, and is rather smaller than the 1580 hits for "he ain't doing no harm" (which no one would argue is correct English).
I stand by my comment. Let's see what other native English speakers have to say.
may be strongly correlated with the demographic bonus and onus, through alternating opti-
mism and pessimism induced by the turn from the demographic bonus to onus, when they
are coupled with financial innovation-induced credit factors

Fitch believes suspension of the tariff bonus and onus (contingency) policies is also favorable as it
should revive Sabesp's cash flow predictability, which has been historically key to its financial profile.
With progress and women’s empowerment they are not
condemned anymore to marry and have a child
;
like any human being
they
can have a
professional carrier, not a job to complement family income, and to have or not
a child is a
choice that
can
balance out
from the
bonus and onus
of being a mother
