Spanish term

capital mobiliario

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Tax Return
Tax Return (San Sebastian)

My question is whether to use the term "capital" or "assets" here and whether it's best to avoid the term "movable" and say "non-property". It's for a UK audience.

Thanks very much in advance.

Rendimientos del capital inmobiliario

Rendimientos del capital mobiliario

investment income

In the context of Spanish personal/individual income tax (IRPF--Impuesto sobre la renta de personas físicas), "rendimientos de capital mobiliario" is generally translated as "investment income" (includes dividends paid on shares, interest on other investments, etc.).

You can translate the other concepts as follows:

Rendimientos de trabajo--earned income; salary income
Rendimientos de capital inmobiliario--rental income
Rendimientos de actividades económicas--business income

Hope this helps.

Hi, to answer your question, it is my understanding that capital gains are reported under a different section of the Spanish income tax return called "ganancias y pérdidas patrimoniales" (capital gains and losses).
Note from asker:
That's helpful, Rebecca. Does "rendimientos de capital inmobiliario" only include rental income or could it also include capital gains from the sale of a property?

agree philgoddard : Good answer. And no, income is not the same as capital gains.
