German term

7er Block

Non-PRO German to English Medical Construction / Civil Engineering Shop construction in regard to pharmacies
Hi,

This is a pharmaceutical term query for translators with an interest in architecture, technical design, and construction, viz. shop construction in regard to pharmacies. We are translating a full-on commercial offer complete with all the technical descriptions of all the equipment and furniture.

I understand from talking to Astrid that my Internet find "drawer unit facility" for "Schubsäulenanlage" works quite well for an English speaker, really. So what is it? It is basically just a traditional Apothecary's Cabinet with pull-out drawers with no dispensing facility or goods routing system whatsoever.

So here is the actual term query:

=> Is it to do with a "7-column" block/unit ('horizontal interpretation')?
=> Or is it to do with a "7-tier/drawer" block/unit ('vertical interpretation')?
=> Other?

Cheers,

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

@ Sebastian The material is obviously PTFE, called 'Hostaflon', a brand name.
Die Maße sind verwirrend:
Säule 1: 9 Schübe x 250 mm = 2250 mm > 2100 mm
Säule 2: 12 Schübe x 125 mm = 1500 + 250 mm + 2 x 125 mm = 2000 mm < 2100 mm.

OK. I see what you mean, Phil. This can be posted as an answer if desired.
philgoddard Dec 24, 2020:
I think you're overthinking this. I'd just put "one 7-block and one 2-block", and leave the customer to sort it out.
Sebastian Witte (asker) Dec 24, 2020:
Thanks. Helpful, that.
Steffen Walter Dec 24, 2020:
Perhaps ... ... http://www.abu-unger.de/?page_id=780 and the other related subpages on this website are of some help here to identify the nature/setup of the "Blöcke".
Sebastian Witte (asker) Dec 24, 2020:
Would the following rationale mean anything to you guys: 'It can only be '1x 7-column block/1x 2-column block', really, because the vertical interpretation, in turn, would mean that we would arrive at a '2-tier/drawer block', which does not seem to fly as an actual physical item of furniture placed in the actual room?'
Just saying ...

block of seven drawer columns (or drawer units)

I hesitate to use expressions like "7-tier/drawer" or "7-column", but prefer "block of seven drawer columns". 2 columns may be called "dual-drawer units".
Note: The German term "Schubsäule" ssounds strange to me.
"Schubladensäule" has: About 919 results (0,32 seconds), but
"Schubsäule" has less: About 289 results (0,29 seconds)

Apothecary cabinets can take many forms, including a low, dresser-like cabinet bedecked with many drawers (Chinese apothecary cabinets were traditionally called “hundred-eye cabinets”), or lanky cabinets outfitted with two or more columns of thin, stacked drawers.
