Point machine
Point machines in rail transport systems ensure that the routes are set according to the specifications of the signal box. Such drives are part of the train protection system and are subject to strict legal requirements with regard to testing and maintenance. At the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences,in the Department of Electrical Engineering, a system for safety checks of point machines was constructed, which is described in the article.

Some more information about my work for the railway and railway engineering companies: As an electrical engineer, in addition to power supplies and contact lines, I also planned points heating systems and train preheating installations, and later also axle counters and actuators for points and switches, as well as the associated cabling and remote control equipment, both in German and in English for foreign countries.
As a translator, I have also translated many tasks, both for permanent-way installations as well as for the electrical and signalling equipment of multi-system locomotives and freight and passenger carriages in Germany, Swizzerland, Italy and France.
