Oops! Forgot (possible) number 5 Jersey now allows some people to change their name and registered sex (gender), in the same way as in the UK (via a Gender Recognition Certificate - GRC). However, I'm not sure whether this leads to a formal change to the person's Jersey birth registration and subsequent certificates.

@AT I'm not sure why you've contradicted Elsa; what she wrote is not incorrect.
It's my understanding (based on what I recall of relevant Jersey law from the days when I had close family there...) that in the Island of Jersey a person's name can be changed on their birth certificate for any of four reasons:
- the parents decide to change the fore-name(s) registered immediately after the birth, within one-year of that registration (eg: to correct a spelling mistake);
- to add one or more fore-names in accordance with customs associated with certain faiths ('baptismal names' added at (adult) Baptism, forenames added upon First Communion, etc.);
- to include the father's surname (with this possibly becoming the child's surname), if the birth was registered only by the mother (giving her own surname to the child) and the father recognised the child later;
- through an application by the 'child' (usually when an adult) to change any part of their name (forename(s) and/or surname), through a process similar to a deed poll in England and Wales.

The ST expression "names given after registration" would cover any of those circumstances.

The relevant laws and regulations are nonetheless different in those entirely distinct jurisdictions.

On peut effectivement se poser la question et se demander pourquoi l’administration utilise « nom ». L’explication se trouve peut-être ici : « l'expression générique de nom comprend des éléments très divers et d'importance inégale : nom de baptême, nom de guerre, de terre, nom patronymique, prénom, pseudonyme, surnom. » (https://www.cnrtl.fr/definition/nom)

J'ajouterai que le contexte dit : Baptisimal names or "names given after.... Il est beaucoup plus courant de parler de « nom de baptême » que de « prénom de baptême ». Pour moi, le deuxième « nom » a la même valeur que le premier, càd « noms de baptême ou noms donnés postérieurement... ».

Donc je maintiens ma proposition de traduction (avec le contexte ) :

A deed poll is a legal document that proves a change of name. A person with parental responsibility for a child is able to change any part of that child's name. For example, a person with PR can change a child's forename, surname (or both), add names, remove names, and change the spelling of their name.
