English term

half-wood

English to French Other Slang Needs to be not too vulgar (FR Quebec)
CONTEXT:
I am translating SUBTITLES for a stand-up comedy show with audience. The comedian makes jokes and when he gets on stage, the audience stands up in an ovation. He makes a joke about how everyone stood up, even that guy who has a "half-wood" / half-boner. He says he is brave to stand up, in that state.

NOTE:
>> Needs to be for CANADIAN FRENCH, suitable for a generic audience in a comedy show
>> Needs to remain somewhat decent, not too vulgar (if possible)

PHRASE:
"You stood up,
you got like a half-wood, dude."

I hope this helps in providing context!
Thank you for your help,

C'est vrai, j'avais trouvé, merci. Malheureusement, au Québec, on ne semble pas utiliser cette expression....

neutral Tony M : Surely this it too... medical? 'wood' is much more colloquial, and something of a euphemism. / Ah yes, your afterthought! You should post it as a completely fresh answer ;-)

What's the problem with 'bandaison'? Say it with a FR-CA accent and you'll see it's funny :)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Seems to be the most commonly used in FR-CA. Thank you!"

à moitié la...

En formulant différemment, pour garder le registre :
you got like a half-wood, dude
t'as à moitié la [insert chosen term for "erection" here ;-)], vieux.
Ça vous permet d'éviter les formulations en "demi" qui ne me semblent pas hyper-percutantes pour un sketch comique.
J'imagine que cette tournure fonctionne pour le Québec aussi, même si je ne peux pas en juger.

demi-molle

I don't know if this wood work for Canada, but I've heard it used here in France.

Sadly, this rather...ahem... colourful dictionary of slang seems to attribute it uniquel to l'Hexagone:

Oh but yes! This is an expression I hear ALL the time in everyday use by real French people in just this context; I didn't make it up ;-)

semi-molle

en français de France, une semi-molle, ça a un côté un peu folklorique...
à voir si c'est connu au Canada
