Subrogacija je zamenjava ali predmeta obveznosti ali zamenjava stranke, ki izpolnitev sprejme ali izpolni. Poznamo torej: realno in personalno subrogacijo. Pri zavarovanju gre za prehod zavarovančevih pravic nasproti odgovorni osebi na zavarovalnico, ki je v tem primeru subrogacija.
