Discussion

Michael Barnett Jan 16, 2011:
Abdominal wall. So it is. I am thoroughly persuaded by your ref. :-)
SJLD Jan 16, 2011:
Hi Michael. I have little doubt that this is referring to the abdo wall, since the expresssion "morbidité pariétale" is commonly used in other procedures not involving the stomach, e.g. hernia repair http://www.chirurgieviscerale.ch/?page_id=743
Michael Barnett Jan 15, 2011:
Parietal That one is kind of tricky. I'm not sure myself to what structure he is referring - the abdominal wall, the wall of the stomach? When I think of "parietal" I think of stomach, as in parietal cells.

BTW - has anyone noticed that remarkable graphic produced by SJLD? How about a big version on your homepage or a Web link for viewing more of your work, Sue?

abdominal wall problems/trauma/complications

I would avoid using "parietal" which to my mind - no pun intended - refers to the parietal lobe of the brain.

"abdominal wall morbidity" if you like, but I don't think this sounds particularly idiomatic

agree Gabrielle Leyden : "abdominal wall" would be more usual in this context: ditto for trauma or complications

parietal morbidity

The laparoscopic transabdominal approach soon became the technique of choice as it has the same short-term efficiency on dysphagia as open cardiomyotomy while reducing the pulmonary and parietal morbidity of laparotomy.

Laparo-Endoscopic Single-Site (LESS) Surgery is an evolution of laparoscopic surgery aiming at decreasing patients’ parietal trauma associated with abdominal operations. LESS surgery is comparable to conventional laparoscopy, but the approach utilises single trans-parietal access instead of using multiple access sites. Routine application of LESS Surgery has recently been made possible through the development of new surgical instruments.
