German term

Fachhandwerk

German to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Wir bekennen uns zum mittelständischen Fachhandwerk.

I found the translation "professional tradesmen" for Fachhandwerk, but medium-sied tradesmen sounds rather strange..any other suggestions?

Small-scale(mittelstaendisch) professional trade(traders)

Use "small- scale" for "Mittelstaendisch" and Fachhandwerk will be professional trade/traders. The second trans. variant- "Small-scale professional handicraft" can be used depending on the context.

small and medium-sized professional trade(r)

More context would have helped to be more certain of an answer, but German and Austrian "mittelständische Unternehmen" are usually translated as small and medium-sized enterprises or SMEs in English.

self-employed tradesmen operating individually or in associations

One way of not appearing to talk about how tall they are. I know the original doesn't actually say self-employed, but that's almost inevitable what it means - otherwise why would anybody declare his commitment to them?
