All three bones of the pelvis (the ilium, ischium, and pubis) together form the acetabulum. The three bones are initially separated by a Y-shaped triradiate cartilage that begins to fuse after puberty. The fusion is complete between 20 and 25 years of age.
In adult patients it is no longer known as the triradiate cartilage complex but simply as the central acetabulum or perhaps the triradiate suture (since it has become a synostosis).
The description is weird because it says that the posterior column is intact and the central fragment has broken off the triradiate suture. How can it break off a suture which extends to the labrum in 3 regions?. I would simply translate it as "Posterior column intact with the central fragment dislocated from the cup".
