German term

Kleinstkosmos

German to English Science Science (general)
Hello again - last one for tonight. It's from the same sentence - this time it's the word "Kleinstkosmos".

Many thanks for any suggestions!

"An der „Forschungsuniversität" mit ihren tausend Wissenschaftlern entsteht gerade eine einmalige „Nanofabrik", in der Biologen, Chemiker, Physiker gemeinsam in den Kleinstkosmos vorstoßen."

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Aug 17, 2005:
Hello! Thanks for the answers so far. Obviously "microcosm" was what sprang to mind, but I couldn't see how that would fit into the sentence. I think i've got it now, though - does it mean that these scientists at the "nanofactory" are investigating smaller and smaller particles? "The microcosmos" in general?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I don't think this means "microcosm" here - I think it means the "world of particles", so I used "microcosmos"."
