Ausweislich Seite xx wird auf ein Starterkorn aus Stärke und Saccharose (Zucker) mittels eines Sprühprozesses eine Mischung aus Wirkstoff (Oxycodon-HCl) und HPMC aufgetragen.

According to page xx a mixture of the active agent (xxxxx) and XXXX is sprayed onto a "Starterkorn aus Stärke" and sucrose (sugar).

Thanks for all the input. I did understand what was meant, I just don't specialize in chemistry and was looking for the proper terminology!

starter grain/granule ...in order to induce/initiate some kind of a fermentation process.
