Italian term

reticolo

Italian to English Other Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting fresco

Hi, which do you think is most appropriate - lattice or meshwork? Thanks!

Discussion

Vanita Ajgarni (asker) Dec 2, 2008:
Hi guys, I have no image or link. I do know that it deals with a fresco depicting "Il Pantocratore", the Pantocrator, All Mighty, All-Powerful, and that this image has been influenced by an aulic protototype, in this case, the mosaic figure of the Pantocrator in the apsidal crown of the Cathedral of Cefalu`. The period is end of 12th century. Thanks!
what period are we talking about?
Angela Arnone Dec 1, 2008:
Vanita, do you have an image of this? Or a link to an image?

Maybe "grid pattern" would work.

neutral Mary Carroll Richer LaFlèche : this is used for shading, here the artist has painted some kind of net, but there isn't much context to go on

honeycomb pattern

I'm sticking my neck out here, as there is no image to go on, but as it's a painting I don't think you can call it lattice or mesh, but I do imagine a sort of honeycomb pattern in the arms of the cross.
