neutral Kathryn Litherland : Companies can still be considered "startups" for a few years--until they meet their end goal of being bought out by another company or going public. So a startup could technically have prior years' fiscal data. It has more to do with growth cycle than age

The financial statements comprise the Statement of Financial Performance, the Statement of Financial Position, the Statement of Cash Flows and include the Notes to those Statements.
Where there is a parent company and subsidiaries the figures will be ‘consolidated’ and the Statements will reflect the results for the total (group) entity.
Unless it is a **newly formed company**, the prior year’s figures will be included for comparison. Check that both columns of figures are for the full 12 months and, if not, make appropriate allowance for this
fact.
