Spanish term

RR.EE.

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) risk management
In an internal bank presentation relating to risk management and consumer and other credit.

I have found that RR.EE. CAN mean "Relaciones Exteriores", but this is at least mainly related to national governments, rather than internal bank organisation - could it be correct here? Context:

"RR.EE. no debe perder su foco en los procesos y en el equilibrio riesgo-rentabilidad"

"Marco Corporativo de Gestión de RREE"

As a complete aside - does anyone know WHY Spanish doubles the letters like this in abbreviations?!

No, sorry I am afraid I didn't give you or anyone else much chance on this occasion - even knowing it I can't find any other references to it.
liz askew Apr 16, 2007:
Thanks, I just wondered whether there would have been a cat in hell's chance of anybody finding it on the Net, or whether the abb. was specific to the client!
BristolTEc (asker) Apr 16, 2007:
From the final customer...
liz askew Apr 16, 2007:
As a matter of interest, where did you find this?
BristolTEc (asker) Apr 16, 2007:
Le encontré al final - "riesgos estandardizados" - standardised risks
Juan Jacob Apr 10, 2007:
F.C. = Ferrocarril. FF.CC. = Ferrocarriles.
S.M. = Su Majestad. SS.MM. = Sus Majestades.
Etc.
Jairo Contreras-López Apr 10, 2007:
Como siempre Henry Hinds está correcto en sus comentarios... típico caso EE.UU. por EstadoS UnidoS... Un saludo a todos...
BristolTEc (asker) Apr 10, 2007:
Thanks, Henry. You are obviously right. That is what can happen when two people alternating putting questions! I didn't realise you could change it for me though.

At least I have learnt something from you and Susana today.
Henry Hinds Apr 10, 2007:
It looks like your question is Span>Eng, so I changed it.

WHY Spanish doubles the letters like this in abbreviations?

That's to indicate plural, ingenious, no?

Relaciones Exteriores

. . . tú eres quien mejor lo puede valorar pero no veo por qué no se va a hablar de relaciones exteriores en el ámbito de la banca.

Por lo que respecta a la duplicación, indica que es plural, otro ejemplo, recursos humanos (RR. HH.).
