military ranks
I need an equivalent military rank or explanation that could go between parenthesis. It's the rank that used to follow Teniente Coronel in Argentina's Navy.
Proposed translations
(English)
5 | (Navy) Captain | Rossana Triaca |
4 +3 | naval captain | bigedsenior |

Selected
(Navy) Captain
Only to further explain the army/navy ranks equivalence (and provide some references):
Capitán de Corbeta - Mayor de la marina - Lieutenant Commander
Capitán de Fragata - Teniente Coronel de la marina - Commander
Capitán de Navío - Coronel de la marina - Captain
I think I would ommit Navy if the context is obvious. Captain is a well understood rank by itself!
Good luck,
Rossana

This is in the USN. It is is the equivalent of colonel. Lt. commander would be = to Lt.Colonel.

It would be the same in the Royal Navy as in the USN

: I know for sure this is the right answer! A colonel in the army is the same thing as a navy captain

Rossana Triaca
: I agree with Captain but, hey, between an Admiral and a Captain there is at least a Vice-Admiral and maybe two Rear Admirals!! :) (Vicealmirante, Contraalmirate etc.! )
