Spanish term

retenes

Spanish to English Other Other
From a list of Colombian terrorist tactics:

... retenes, secuestros, quema de vehículos.

Retén sounds a little like it might be a holdup, but since the dictionary says "hold down" for "retener" and the Colombian vocabulary is very specialized, I thought I'd check if anyone has experience with this term.
