Swedish term

sommar häng

Swedish to English Art/Literary Linguistics
Hello

Some of you might have a laugh at this (me) but I'm not sure if

Loungemöbler för ***sommarens alla häng***

is a pun ("sammanhäng" och "sommarhäng")

This would not be the first time where I think there may be a Swedish pun but others say there isn't.

But in self-isolation, we need things to keep us occupied so I'm giving you this :)

if it is a pun, I'm open to equivalent puns in English

Regards

Discussion

@ all Thank everyone. I went with Deane's suggestion of course but note that Per-Erik did come up with this too in the discussion so special thanks to him.
Tomasso's Swedish/Finnish and Irish/Swiss puns were far beyond me but I'm sure they were funny nevertheless :)
Matt Bibby Apr 8, 2020:
I've agreed with Deane here but I think it's more the places/hangouts than the gatherings. Basically 'lounge furniture for wherever you spend your summers' (like e.g. a sommarstuga). Or even '...for any summer home'.
Tomasso Apr 7, 2020:
Oh Oh (sorry, here we are, Irish - Patio Furniture is miss Patty O'Furniture

Schwesterin used to say Ich bin Otto Frau, not Otoman, footstool.
Christopher Schröder Apr 7, 2020:
Not this summer...
Per-Erik Nordström Apr 7, 2020:
Hangout or hang-out. Has clearly been imported into Swedish.
Tomasso Apr 7, 2020:
(totally unrelated) Svensk Suomi Pun Ei Ole,,,,,Hi there Olaf, or in Finnish,,,No Way, It is not.

summer parties/hangouts

This isn't a pun... it's slang Seemingly from Stockholm but is be more widespread -- upscale 'city' slang in any case. Making a noun out of 'kick back' think of cookouts/picnics -- generally with plenty of booze (if my reading is correct).

I did the word 'barhäng' recently ... more slang for good places or people to hangout at/with.

Check out the Swe by searching "sommarhäng" + "stockholm" -- and you can check other cities.

Search "summer hangouts" for some Eng ideas... This reference seems more like people trying to sound 'cool.' But there are many more.

agree Matt Bibby : Yes, but more hangouts than parties I think.

Thanks, Matt! We can think of the furniture they need for this silly series (Not a fav for me!)... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6647016/
agree EKM : For a while now, every social gathering has been a tagged on '-häng'. Though fairly new it already feels worn out to me, but that's neither here nor there. Your interpretation is correct. Booze is not necessarily a part of the 'häng', although it can be.
