Can I add entries to termbase from TE while translating? Thread poster: Heinrich Pesch

I thought I would update my database and add some new terms. But is this possible without using the rather complicated way outlined in the manual? I thought I could just open a bilingual document in TE, select a source term, click on some button and choose the target term and press Enter. Instead I should open Multiterm, create an Input model etc.
Another question:
Does anyone use Multiterm extract successfully? My languages most of the time have completely reversed word order... See more I thought I would update my database and add some new terms. You will see a Multiterm toolbar in TagEditor (enable it with View > Toolbars > Multiterm if you don't).
Highlight the source term and click the Add term icon. If you have other entry-level or term-level fields in your termbase, you can expand the Submit to Multiterm dialog box by clicking More...
To use this possibility, you need to link a termbase to Workbench the usual way.

Would you happen to know whether there is a keyboard shortcut for this (or whether it's possible to set one)? I haven't been able to find one but I'm quite sure that being able to use one would considerably speed up the process of adding new entrys to a termbase.

I use ctrl-shift-s for the source, ctrl-shift-t for the target and ctrl-shift-m for adding that to MultiTerm.

It should work if you type ctrl-shift-T and then ctrl-shift-m. A little window should pop up with the target term already in there.
Another handy shortcut is pressing alt-arrow to copy a term from multiterm to TE or Word.

I first copy the target term, then highlight the source term, click the Add Term icon, and I paste the target term from the clipboard. But you are right, Heinrich - for something that's supposed to work on-the-fly, it is a little complicated.
I think they could eventually fix this so you can highlight the source term in the source segment, highlight the target term in the target segment and just use a shortcut to add that to the TDB. I tried, highlighted the target word, pressed ctrl+shift+t, highlighted the source term, pressed ctrol+shift+m, but there was only the source term filled in.
When I press ctrol-shift-s I start the vista system information window.
But first copying the target term and then open the input window of course is what I will do in the future. Thanks for the information!

When this happens, the fix I have found is to highlight the source term and then right-click it, and click on Add Term > Set as Source in the context menu. However, this seems to reinitialize the process so it works correctly again - for a while.
