Source text - English Amoxicillin is an amino penicillin and possesses activity against penicillin-sensitive grampositive bacteria and some gram-negative aerobes and some anaerobes. Amoxicillin exerts its bactericidal action by preventing the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall due to inhibitory effect on a key transpeptidase in peptidoglycan biosynthesis and by the inhibition of PBPs, resulting in cell lysis and death. Clavulanic acid is a B-lactamase inhibitor which is produced by
Streptomyces clavuligerus. It binds irreversibly to the B-lactamases produced by a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative micro-organisms. It exhibits only slight intrinsic antibacterial activity and it is, therefore, used only in combination with other more efficient antibiotics in order to extend their bactericidal spectrum to include B-lactamase producing organisms. The published data regarding the in vitro susceptibility of micro-organisms to amoxicillin, and to amoxicillin combined with clavulanic acid demonstrates unequivocally how amoxicillin-resistant, B-lactamase producing, micro-organisms are susceptible to this drug combination.

Бактерицидное действие амоксициллина заключается в блокировании синтеза бактериальной клеточной стенки вследствие ингибирования транспептидаз, участвующих в биосинтезе пептидогликана, и ингибирования пенициллин-связывающих белков (ПСБ), что приводит к лизису и гибели клеток. Клавулановая кислота является ингибитором B-лактамазы, вырабатываемой клетками Streptomyces clavuligerus. Она необратимо связывает B-лактамазы, вырабатываемые широким спектром Грам-положительных и Грам-отрицательных микроорганизмов. Она обладает слабым собственным антибактериальным действием и поэтому используется только в сочетании с другими, более эффективными антибиотиками, что расширяет их бактерицидное действие, распространяя его на микроорганизмы, продуцирующие B-лактамазу.
