Translation - English Chile presents 750 to 1050 cases of primary CNS (Central nervous system) brain tumors per year. Between 20 to 40% of them are gliomas, which are subdivided depending on its original cell and its grade of malignancy into: astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, oligoastrocytoma in I, II, III and IV grades according to the World Health Organization (WHO), Classification 2007 (Table 1).
Despite of the large international cancer research and the development of new therapies, high-grade gliomas (III and IV grades according to WHO), are still bad prognosis diseases. Adult patients with glioblastoma (IV grade) have a global survival rate of 15 months with therapy. Patients with anaplastic astrocytoma (III grade) and anaplastic oligodendroglioma (III grade), of better prognosis, have a global survival rate between 2-3 and 4-5 years respectively. Low-grade gliomas as II grade astrocytoma or oligodendroglioma present a global survival rate of 6 to 8 and 4 to 10 year respectively, with large interindividual variability in terms of therapy response and progress.
Within the mine of therapeutic instruments available for its treatment, we have surgical resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
The best treatment to handle glioblastoma is gross total resection followed by radiotherapy with temozolomide, followed by Chemotherapy with temozolomide for 6 months. This scheme showed a survival rate of 14,6 months, longer than 12,1 months only with radiotherapy (P

Bio
My name is Christel Uteau Puschmann. I'm chilean so my native language is spanish. From my mother's side, I'm half german, so I grew up speaking german. I'm not native in that language, but very advanced. Having already two languages, english became very easy for me to learn. I enjoyed learning languages, so I decided to become a translator and studied it right afer I finished school and I've been working always in environments where I could use my language skills. I returned now full-time to translation.
