The Cheval Blanc hotel opens in Courchevel
The four star luxury hotel, Cheval Blanc will open on 22 December in the heart of the Alpine garden, in the magnificant ski domain of Courchevel 1850. A dream destination in one of the most beautiful ski stations in the world, where refinement, peace, elegance and warmth come together.
Made to measure rooms:
Cheval Blanc features 34 rooms and suites on five floors. According to their layout, each room or suite has either a balcony or a terrace and all come with a mountain view. The chalet distinguishes itself by its elegance and refinement, in perfect harmony with the surrounding countryside. Treated in a resolutely contemporary spirit, each room is spacious and contains a sitting room area. Each room expresses a personality, a difference.
Gastronomy and gourmet moments:
The White bar fireplace is the place to meet to relax, talk about future projects, excursions and adventures, lulled by the jazzy atmosphere of the place.
Or you can go directly to the restaurant, the 1947. With Wout Bru in charge, a young chef from Bruges, the restaurant, with its seating capacity of 90, makes some daring contrasts. The chef offers a menu which brings to music the flavours of a creative cuisine. The restaurant terrace opens out onto the natural setting of the Alpine garden. It’s an essential pit stop between two ski runs to sunbathe and eat from the gastronomic buffet which gourmets will truly appreciate.

Bio
Recently settled in Geneva after 12 years working in language publishing in Paris, I am now a free-lance French to English translator and writer.
I am bilingual French-English, born and educated in Cambridge, England. I studied French and History at London University including a year studying translation skills and techniques at the British Insitute in Paris. I also hold a Masters in Marketing and Sales from the Centre National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) in Paris.
I have worked free-lance with a number of clients including Editions Télémaque in Paris for whom I translated two books: Darshan, Voyage dans les bras d'une Amma by Jan Kounen in 2007 and Archives secrètes Boucheron by Vincent Meylan in 2010. I have also worked with a number of marketing agencies in France and Switzerland translating communication tools such as websites, catalogues, brochures and presentations.
I believe the Geneva city motto 'Post Tenebras Lux' (Light after darkness) is very appropriate to describe the translation process. A text which at first is unintelligible becomes clear after translation. For me, a good translator is somebody who writes as clearly as possible in his own native language.
