With an extensive experience in international travel and having grown up in a Spanish-speaking, Latin-American country, I have developed linguistic skills that are very much to an equal level in both Spanish and English. My higher education is North American, and my point of reference Latin American.
I am a certified Spanish translator through the Modern Languages Translation Program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and currently head the Translation Unit for the Nebraska Department Health and Human Services in Lincoln, NE.
My work entails a variety of areas: I translate anything from inmate letters to complete program handbooks. This includes brochures, listings, Court Order/Reports, personal letters, forms, presentations, etc. I have also developed an internal on-line glossary with collegues for use within the Deparment. Additionally, I have completed DVD voice-overs (
"Get a Head Start on Energy") and have done interpretation (educational, medical).
My French background includes work at the Centre de Linguistique Appliquée (CLA) in Besançon, France; mainly through pedagogical and proficiency courses completed.
My interests vary from educational to literary, and I am excited when a challenge translation reaches my hands.
Above all, I am concerned with appropriate cultural nuances in language, and strive to respect cultural and linguistic connections as much as possible.
