I lived in Japan for 25 years. I worked for a small Japanese publishing company (completely in Japanese) for 8 years, followed by four years at one of Japan's largest English-language daily newspapers. At the newspaper I translated, reported and copy-edited. I then worked as head of quality assurance at a mid-level translation firm before moving back to the States.

Specialties are medical, biology, cultural (especially tourism, anime and manga), and operating manuals. I can do mildly technical translations.
