Spanish to English: CLEANING TREATMENT TEST FOR SPRAY PAINT AND INDELIBLE MARKER STAINS General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.)
Translation - English Test Preamble:
The client, KIMSA, requested that testing be undertaken of the efficiency with which spray paint (test 2) and indelible marker (test 1) stains are cleaned from the natural stone grey granite (provided by the client). For this purpose, the client, KIMSA, proposes the following cleaning method.
Before staining: SURFACE PROTECTION.
1 Clean the material with a damp cloth.
2 Dry the surface with absorbent paper. Ensure that it is completely dry.
3 Apply KIM HIDRO MGB protection to the surface using a paintbrush.
4 Allow the product to dry for a minimum of 5 hours.
After staining: STAIN CLEANING.
4 Let the spray paint and indelible marker stains dry for at least two hours.
5 Apply a spoonful of the product STAR ORANGE.
6 Scrub the stain.
The CTAP laboratory designs the following test in order to evaluate the ease with which stains are cleaned. The stains are applied for 60 minutes, 2 hours and 6 hours. Once the established drying time has elapsed the following stain cleaning procedures are carried out.
Phase 1: Apply STAR ORANGE and scrub 5 times with a finger.
Phase 2: Apply STAR ORANGE and scrub 5 times with a cloth.
Phase 3: Apply STAR ORANGE and scrub until the stain has been completely eliminated.
CONCLUSIONS:
The indelible marker stains are eliminated after the cleaning process specified by the client, even when the process is started six hours after the application of the stain.
The spray paint stains are easily eliminated by the cleaning process specified by the client, if and when the time that elapses after the application of the stain is not greater than two hours.
In the extreme case in which an excess amount of spray paint has dried for more than two hours, the cleaning treatment set out in this report will not ensure complete elimination of the stain. Nevertheless, it is certain that after a longer cleaning process no traces remain.
In conclusion, the cleaning treatment specified by the client is effective and allows stains to be easily eliminated within a determined time period: for the indelible marker, a time of up to 6 hours, and for the spray paint, an approximate time of two hours. For more difficult stains it is necessary to repeat the cleaning process until the stain has been completely eliminated.
It should be kept in mind that the step previous to staining the surface with paint, i.e. the protection of the surface with KIM HIDRO MGB, helps the subsequent cleaning process. When applying the product, special care is required to make sure that the surface of the stone is clean and perfectly dry prior to application.
