I graduated from the University of Wrocław where I studied English, majoring in literature and minoring in translations. I supplemented my education with post-graduate courses in translations and logistics. My career in the translation industry kicked off at a small translation agency where my duties first involved revision, proofreading and translation. After a time, I was also entrusted with handling project management tasks, and this job was my main occupation for many years, working for two fast-growing translations agencies from Wrocław and the Netherlands. However, I never forgot about translations.
After working in project management, I decided to let my passion for translations take over, thus Origami Translations was born. Why 'origami'? Translation is like origami: just like folding paper to create a work of art, I fold words to create a perfect text in another language.
My daily work is focused on three areas of expertise. The first one includes marketing translations, such as surveys and questionnaires, social media texts, blog posts and keywords, product descriptions and labels, texts for websites, apps, ads, banners and animations, descriptions of cultural events, and any other types of creative content.
Another area I specialize in are EU-related translations concerning regional affairs, cohesion policy and EU funds. I handle summaries of legislation and EU glossary terms as well as texts for EU-wide campaigns, e.g. creative copy for social media, videos and animations. I also work on articles about scientific research and innovations done in the EU in various fields, such as the environment, fisheries, agriculture, climate, transport and social sciences.
The third area I enjoy covers legal and business texts, such as agreements, contracts, certificates, reports, minutes and records, including personal documents, diplomas and statements.
I work with SDL Trados Studio 2019, Across, OmegaT, MateCat, SmartCat, Crowdin and Lokalise, and I have some experience with Wordfast and memoQ. I’m also well-versed in Plunet and XTRF as well as Office 365 apps. I’m computer-savvy and I can learn new software quickly.
