Full résumé
I am a native speaker of English from the United States. I am a full-time translator and translate Spanish and Portuguese into English with more than 20 years of experience. Most of my work is technical and/or business related. I have a degree in international business and I also have a degree in computer science and a broad technical background. I hold a patent in the United States. I wrote the entire patent except the claims and I am broadly familiar with utility patents (but not plant patents).
My work has included: extensive translation experience (more than 5,000 pages) in the fields of: automotive (gas- and diesel-engine technology, engine controls, body and chassis development, etc.); electricity (generation, transmission, and distribution); telecommunications (cellular telephony in general; site design; satellite communications; billing systems and software); computer (software and hardware); machinery (stationary machinery and moving machinery); metallurgy (steel, aluminum, titanium, mill construction and operation, NDT, aircraft applications of light metals); broad translation experience (more than 2,000 pages) in construction (turnkey contracts and specifications, site preparation, building codes and specifications, etc.); business (privatizations, public-offerings, regulatory); financial (annual reports, financial statements, disclosure statements, prospectus); development (RFPs, ongoing reports, etc.); mining and mining machinery; environmental science (plant siting, remediation, abatement); chemicals (safety data sheets); oil and gas (exploration and drilling equipment); pharmaceuticals (PPIs, package inserts and information sheets, testing reports, etc.), patents; aircraft and aeronautics (flight testing, building of aircraft, engines, avionics); legal (leases, contracts, patents, patent applications, challenges, court proceedings, etc.); and experience in: glassmaking (general plant equipment, lehrs); websites (HTML localization).
I have extensive experience with many types of word-processing and page-layout programs.
I can translate and proofread up to 10,000 words per day when the source text is available in electronic form, using productivity software that I have designed and programmed. When the source text is available in hardcopy I can translate 4,000 - 5,000 words per day.
Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) are accepted and this form of payment is preferred for international work. |
