Translation - Russian Another event that was essential to the Russian insurance market in 2016 was the decision by the Bank of Russia to include I in the Unified Register of Self-Regulating Organizations in the financial market.
Given the challenges facing the global and Russian economy, Ingosstrakh Insurance Company made good progress in 2016, earning profit from both financial and operating activities. The direct insurance premium grew by 17.7% to RUB 86.6B in 2016, and the company's market share was 7.3%, 0.2 pp up from 2015.
While we have achieved a very important psychological target of over RUB 100B in insurance premium collection, we understand that this is not an end in itself, but only a step on our journey towards consistent and sustainable company development.

Source text - English Singapore has a comprehensive legal framework for seizing and confiscating criminal
proceeds, instrumentalities and property of equivalent value; although it could consider new
amendments to more proactively target foreign proceeds. Singapore uses the Criminal
Procedure Code (CPC) for seizure and confiscation in both domestic and foreign cases as it
allows for much swifter action than the CDSA. Singapore’s efforts have however been
undermined by a lack of strategic direction and emphasis on the pursuit of confiscation of
proceeds of crime as a goal in its own right.
In line with its risk profile, Singapore has mainly seized and confiscated cash, with lesser
amounts of non-cash assets. Singapore’s efforts to pursue instrumentalities have mainly
focused on vehicles used in the commission of offences. Singapore has made limited use of
provisions to pursue property of equivalent value. Singapore has made few efforts to pursue
proceeds moved offshore through formal channels; however Singapore has taken recent
steps to do so.
English to Russian: August 2016 How Do Venture Capitalists Make Decisions? https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2801385 Detailed field: Finance (general)
Source text - English Valuation methods
Finance theory teaches that investment decisions should be made using a discounted cash flow (DCF) or net present value (NPV) analysis with a cost of capital based on the systematic risk of the opportunity.
Graham and Harvey (2001) find that 75% of CFOs always or almost always use such analyses, using them as often as internal rates of return.
Gompers et al. (forthcoming) find that private equity investors rely primarily on internal rates of return and multiples to evaluate investments.
They infrequently use NPV methods.
We repeated the analyses in those two papers by asking our respondents a number of questions on the financial and valuation metrics they use.
First, we asked how important financial metrics such as internal rate of return (IRR), cash-on-cash return, or NPV are in making investment decisions.
The most popular methods are cash-on-cash multiples (63% of the sample) and IRR (42% of the sample).
Only 22% of the VC investors use NPV methods.
While this level of reliance on NPV would be considered low for mature firms, the response rate does go against anecdotal evidence that VCs rarely use NPV to evaluate investments.
One possibility is that our sample has a substantial proportion of MBA graduates who were exposed to modern finance valuation methods in school.
Translation - Russian

Source text - English Several months ago Simon Kuper published what seemed to me a bizarre piece in the weekend edition of the Financial Times arguing that native English speakers are handicapped by the fact that the entire world (or to be more realistic, the global middle and ruling classes) are able to read or speak English. This gave to the latter the advantage of fully understanding English speakers, their opinions, prejudices and motivations, while taking away all incentive for the native English speakers to learn foreign languages (why bother, if everyone speaks your language) and thus to understand and influence other cultures that still conduct most of their bread-and-butter business using national languages.
What I found odd in Kuper’s piece was that it reversed the normal and long-standing view that having foreigners learn your language was always a mark of cultural or technological superiority, that it entrenched that superiority, and was therefore a very desirable thing. Greece influenced Romans through their love and awe of the Greek language (what Gibbon called “the perfect idiom”), and thus transmitted its culture and way of thinking. It is not for nothing that such diverse emperors as Hadrian, Marcus Aurelius and Julian were Hellenophiles, often more at ease in Greek than in the rather coarse Latin. (I am writing this some 200 meters from the Hadrian’s Gate in Athens.)

Source text - English Russia: Illicit Financial Flows and the Role of the Underground Economy
II. Evolution and Pattern of Illicit Flows The Russian Federation came into existence after the disintegration of the former Soviet Union, a fragmentation that resulted partly from its failed economic policies. As a result, wide-ranging economic reforms were initiated during the period just before and after the breakup of the Soviet Union. In dismantling the structures of central planning, radical economic reform sought to transform Russia into a market-based economy and to place the country on a sustainable path to economic growth and stability. As prices were liberalized and loss-making public sector agencies were privatized, monetary policy was implemented by an increasingly professional Central Bank, rather than through a central command. As privatization began to take hold, control of business shifted from the government to the private sector. However, the period of transition to a market-based economy was fraught with uncertainties, risks of failure, and wariness among investors. Illicit inflows as percent of GDP grew steadily in the first three years 1994–1996 while outflows grew in the first two years
Translation - Russian II.

Vologda lace is made of thick, seamless, even linen threads, the smooth twists of which form a distinct pattern. The visual effect of Vologda lace is often compared to window frost and snowflakes, and this Russian craft has become a true art form. Lace is used to make adornments, tablecloths, napkins, panels, clothing, and even footwear. Today, Vologda lace is made by Snezhinka, a firm which employs craft artists using traditional bobbins to produce hand-made lace. In 2010, Vologda opened Russia’s first and only Lace Museum, which displays a range of amazing exhibits.
Gzhel Ceramics
The potters of Gzhel have been making ceramic ware since the seventh century. The region includes about 30 villages near Moscow that are known as the “Gzhel cluster”, and is Russia’s key pottery producer today. The renowned blue-and-white ceramic items are made with amazing artistry and creative design. But beware of counterfeits! Many fake Gzhel-like items find their way into the market. Before you buy, check the quality, design and material. The authentic article is extra thin and shining – porcelain cannot be heavy, and items that are heavy are earthenware, not porcelain.
Orenburg Shawls
Orenburg Shawls are a symbol of Russian comfort. They feel warm and thick but are light and delicate like a spider web. They are made of handspun goat fibre, the world’s finest, which makes the shawls exceptionally tender and soft. A high-quality shawl can be pulled through a wedding ring. These shawls were first shown internationally at the 1857 Paris World Fair, which was just the beginning of their global fame. They became so popular that a British company even produced its own fibre shawls and called them “Orenburg shawl imitation”. Today, some of the world’s most elegant women, such as Montserrat Caballé and Catherine Deneuve, have Orenburg shawls in their wardrobe.

The iGadget watermelon slicer (£4.05, amazon.co.uk) is a double-bladed, flexible scoop used to segment a gourd along its interior wall, then grip and lift the portion.
Why?
When life gives you melons, make do with this melon-aid.
Well?
Shaun Ryder spent the early 90s slurring allegations about people twisting his melon, man, a complaint dismissed as the ramblings of a drug addict. Yet what if he was on to something? What is the best way to prep melon? Don’t say ball! To skilfully ball a melon separates men from boys (unless we’re talking about the adolescent interpretation, which works the other way around) and gives a pretty result. But twisting the spoon to carve such perfect balls necessarily means leaving some precious flesh behind; it’s inefficient.
This watermelon slicer from something called iGadget Tradings (me neither) is here to fix that for you. “Now you can slice your watermelon easily. Now you can cut out perfect pieces. You can get the most of the watermelon,” read the instructions, like an unambitious Darth Maul. Already in these words I detect a note of dolour. It’s a feeling amplified by the “High Quality” stamp printed on three sides of the box, which makes me feel sadder than words have ever done. This is something to do with the box’s low-grade finish, and the fact that quality is like status: if you announce it, you’ve lost it.
FacebookTwitterPinterest
It feels like taking a fruit biopsy. Photograph: Graeme Robertson for the Guardian
The slicer is a double-bladed scimitar, one side heavily serrated, the other marked with air holes. (To reduce drag coefficient inside a melon? Bring down the weight? A mystery.) I pull the curving, joined blades toward me, scraping the hull of the melon, then flip the tool and use it as tongs. It feels like taking a fruit biopsy, and isn’t terrible. It is more efficient than a spoon. But is it relevant? These are awful times. For my money, the only way to eat a melon now is to push your entire face into it, teeth first, lifting your head once you have purchase on the flesh, so you can wear it as an enormous, Frank Sidebottom-style smile. Anything else would mean facing the void.
Any downside?
I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller, I wish I had a melon that looked good, I would eat her. But it’s October.

Qiwi.
Translation - English Russia, 2005.
The free-to-play game industry is exploding, and almost every household has a high-speed Internet connection. But banks fall short of this process as only a small percent of users have payment cards.
This situation is unique in a way:
Thousands of users across the country are willing to pay for virtual items and in-game currency but have no way of doing so.
Shurik Agapitov, a student at the department of mechanics and mathematics of Perm University, decided to make good use of this business opportunity.
In the summer of 2005, he launched 2pay.ru, a chain of cash outlets to pay for services and in-game items.
The market flourished.
There were hundreds of games that supported such transactions and about a hundred competing cash outlets at the time.
The two industries soon embarked on consolidation:
Mail.ru became the largest free-to-play game operator and Qiwi took charge of cash outlets.
Shurik faced a hard choice:
Moscow was the center of the gaming and payment business while the founder of 2pay.ru lived in Perm, some fifteen hundred kilometers to the east.
Geography and the lack of a strong Biz Dev team prevented his communication with large market players.
Agapitov decided on a long tail strategy
to operate small and medium payment systems in Russia’s regions and add independent games that are not bound by contracts with international publishers.

The Swarm Fund team plans to help the crypto world grow to $1 trillion by bringing tokenized real-world assets through partner funds. The Swarm Fund team has managed $10B in portfolios and built platforms which handle $25B of monthly deal flow and already has several pre-selected funds which generate 30+% IRR through scalable models powered by artificial intelligence. Swarm token holders will govern the platform in which all of this will happen and receive additional tokens on the private blockchain. This will allow them to participate in all of the subfunds. This system is designed to be adaptable for full regulatory compliance in multiple jurisdictions. The corridor between the public and private blockchain tokens is additionally designed to be fully AML/KYC compliant and to follow the model of existing exchanges.
Swarm is building technology bottom up which ensures successful execution of program instructions, including a logic programmingbased “state box” which use distributed state machines to ensure full-program execution, and an operational liquid democracy platform. Our technology and blockchain co-op model will likely also be useful for other industry verticals besides finance. People should participate if they believe in the value proposition of democratizing finance, collaborative ownership, high returns, and the soundness of both the team and technology
Swarm goes beyond the typical ICO approach:
Standard ICO Approach:
● Utility token on public blockchain
● Unclear underlying value
● Single Swiss nonprofit foundation
● Unclear relation with regulators
● Prototype product or no product
● No governance
● No experience delivering product
● Token value is derived from velocity of token transfer
● Unknown or non-existent AML/KYC
Swarm Approach:
● Utility token on public blockchain, and unlimited sub-tokens
● Sub-tokens backed by existing highly profitable subfunds holding real assets
● Seven inter-networked legal entities in different jurisdictions united by one platform co-op
● Openly approached lawmakers with model in 7 Direct relationships with regulators in multiple jurisdictions and organized legal conferences with extremely positive responses
● Working tested product of utility layer and private blockchain asset structure
● Liquid democracy model that allows token holders to elect board members

Swarm:

I translate to make a difference and not just to get a job done.
Use my 15-year experience to smash the barriers and expand your reach. I have one vision thing about translation: it must add value. Translation is a function, not a form.
My translations are

user-friendly,

add any of your specific requirements here.
