Source text - German 1. Titel des Projekts:
„Was bedeutet Religion für mich? Für die Gesellschaft? Für die Geschichte?“
2. Kurzdarstellung des Projektes? Situationsbeschreibung
Translation - English 1. Project Title
“What Does Religion Mean for Me? For Society? For History?”
2. Project Overview – A Situational Description
Over the last few years, the situation with the refugees and religion has become a bigger topic of discussion in politics and society. Besides a general anxiety of the population due to the situation, there is often a misunderstanding of religion, reasons for migration and history that is central to the issue.
At the same time, there are refugees in Berlin who are seeking an entrance to German language and culture. A big proportion of these refugees are young and many are unaccompanied minors. Through our project, we would like to build a bridge between Christian, Jewish and Muslim worlds. This will be done by hosting two Israeli youth (no older than 21) and bringing them together with youth that may or may not have a migration background.
Most German youth have neither understanding nor point of reference to the living situation of countries in crisis. The outlook of these two groups of youth could not be more different, even though they both live in the same country and are both part of the same society. The mission here is to further the understanding of both groups towards one-another, to support the framework of the integration of the culture of welcome, and to develop the knowledge of the reasons for the flight of refugees and to improve the situation of the youth of these countries in crisis. This shall take place through the framework of different encounter projects, within which all the youth will bring their strengths and can learn from one another.
