I was born and raised in Brazil and I have been living in the US since 2005. Prior to becoming a translator, I have worked as a biologist. My passion for science has always been accompanied by words. After all, it was through them that I’ve published the results of my field and lab work.
Through the years, I’ve started noticing that my most important vocation was writing, be it writing academic book chapters, peer-reviewed scientific articles, reports, proposals, or science articles for laymen.
My professional background grants me the expertise to perform scientific translations. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Zoology, from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Throughout my Master’s and Ph.D. programs, I have worked in a biodiversity characterization and conservation program – BIOTA-FAPESP – and I have collaborated with the Smithsonian Institution in zoology and evolutionary biology projects.
My experience as a scientist and a writer and the fact that I am an avid reader reflect on my writing style and ability to find the most appropriate translation for scientific and/or technical terms.
