Although a French national, I left France at the age of 21 and have now been spending half of my life in Scotland. As a result, I am completely bilingual and have a thorough knowledge and understanding of both cultures. I have been teaching French for the past 18 years in my local secondary school with the additional experiences of teaching French to adults as well as teaching German and Spanish at beginners level. Although not a main part of teaching, tranlation is part of it. Part of my university degree was in linguistics and I must admit that my fascination and passion for words have never ceased to be ever since. Although I love words for what they are and what they can represent, my passion goes beyond them. They have this wonderful ability to allow us into other cultures, other ways of thinking, different conceptions of the world. I see translation as a means of building that bridge between people. This is why I see translation not as a mere word exercise, but as a whole cultural transfer from one nation to another and vice versa. Thanks to my life experience between France and Scotland, I have no problem translating from English to French or French to English. My fields of expertise have been mentioned in the relevant section and my fields of interests are wide. May I finally add fields which did not appear in the list; I have knowledge in beekeeping, permaculture and general conversation of our environment.
