Source text - English Increased blood pressure (hypertension) is associated with a higher risk for diseases of the heart and the vessels (cardiovascular diseases) such as arteriosclerosis, infarction of the heart and of the brain (stroke). It is well known that hypertension and diabetes mellitus occur frequently together which results in a higher risk of cardiovascular complications.
So-called beta-adrenergic receptor antagonists such as Nebivolol (Drug A) and Carvedilol (Drug B) are specific medicines against hypertension and are available on the market only on doctor's prescription. They can also be used in addition to other medications against hypertension (add-on treatment). Clinical studies have shown that a tablet of Drug A as well as a tablet of Drug B is effective in the treatment of hypertension and that the risk of side effects is low.
In some patients, a stronger decrease of blood pressure can occur during treatment of hypertension which is called orthostatic hypotension. This orthostatic hypotension can be asymptomatic or symptomatic, i.e., accompanied by light-headedness, dizziness, blurred vision, weakness, fatigue, falls, cognitive impairment and headache. Orthostatic hypotension can have several causes, but it is well known that patients with diabetes mellitus are at higher risk of orthostatic hypotension.
This clinical study is being conducted in several European countries in up to 404 patients with the diagnosis of hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Each patient will be in the study for up to 6.5 months and must be at least 60 and not older then 85 years of age. Before you can take part, you must first read and sign this Patient Information and Consent Form.

This transmitted light is converted into an electrical signal which is stored and processed by a microcomputer to find the coagulation time and the amount of change in light absorbance (OD/min). The wavelengths used, the analytical methods (percentage method, rate method), whether or not to perform a prozone check, mixing conditions during analysis and other analysis conditions are set and performed in the same detector well for the three analysis methods (coagulation, chromogenic and immunochemical).

I hope that 2009 has started well for all of you, with renewed energy for the year to come. It will be of no surprise to you that I see 2009 as an important year for XXX in terms of how we respond to the economic downturn and build and grow XXX, and ultimately how we make the best of the challenges to come.
Last week, together with the Executive Committee, we held our winter retreat, where we discussed the 2009 priorities, and as you can imagine, the global economy was top of the agenda. The economic challenges we face are certainly some of the most difficult that any of us have ever faced in our careers. From this respect, it was a very practical session, as we focused on our priorities for the months to come.
We started the retreat by looking at the current situation, because in the last 60 days, the situation has become more complex. It was important to have this grounding, to have a good understanding and the most up-to-date scenarios, so that we can work on the most suitable actions, goals and priorities.
I’ll share the specifics of the priorities at a later stage – for now, I want to focus on some of the areas which we need to address in the coming months.
The first area will be of no surprise to any of you – and that is the issue of cost. The economic slowdown is affecting the majority of countries, companies and individuals – and XXX is no exception. Our order growth has slowed and it is not clear in the short run how long this will continue. As demand drops, we need to adjust our spending and at the end of last year, we announced that we would cut our costs by more than $1 billion.
