....met very nice colleagues who understood my "issues" without having to explain myself - and have actually received some translations as an indirect result of the powwow I attended - it definitely made me feel less alone!

If you're not too far away, grab a bus, train or plane and come over to Rome on March 26th, we're going to have a great time at the Springtime Powwow!

The powwows are certainly great for those of you who have no difficulty traveling (or don't even need to travel to attend one). As far as I can tell, there is only one other Proz member in my country, though, so it doesn't look like I will be attending one soon. This isn't due to lack of interest or anti-social attitude, just lack of possibilities.

Hi Armaat,
It may sound silly but just organize one, chosing a date a good month or two from now. This may unearth translators near you. This has happened at every powwow i have attended (France & Spain): people show whom you never suspected were near you.

I agree that the Middle East is not exactly a normal place. Even without travel restrictions, Israel has not yet had a powwow......

Hi Armaat, I agree with Helene. I did the same by advertising one for Vienna last November. I was surprised how many were interested and came. We had a very purposeful evening and want to meet again on Feb. the fourth. Some of us have already shared projects. After you will have made one don´t forget to show the pictures. Marie M. We spoke three hours and did not cover all subjects. We want to meet again in February. The last powwow was attended by fives persons, it was quite good. We only spent two hours but could have stayed longer. Translators are great individuals. Marie | | | |
