Source text - English The Election Commission has deferred the by elections to seven parliamentary constituencies and elections for woman's reserved seats in view of the situation created due to the BDR mutiny and killing of army officers. The commission announced the revised schedule at about 2 pm today.
According to the revised schedule, elections for woman's reserved seats will be held on March 30 and voting in the by elections will be held on April 2. As per the new schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers for the woman's reserved seats is March 12, date of scrutiny is March 15 and the last date for withdrawing nomination papers is March 19. For the by elections to seven constituencies, the last date for submitting nomination papers is March 9, date of scrutiny is March 11 and the last date for withdrawing nomination papers is March 17.
By elections to seven constituencies were earlier scheduled to be held on March 30. Awami League Chief Sheikh Hasina, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Chairman of Jatiyo Party H M Ershad were elected from three seats each during the ninth parliamentary elections on December 29. Each of them vacated two seats, keeping one as per rule.
Sheikh Hasina is representing Gopalgonj-3 while Khaleda Zia Feni-1 and Ershad Dhaka-17 seats. Sheikh Hasina vacated Bagerhat-1 and Rangpur-6, Khaleda Zia Bogra-6 and Bogra-7 and Ershad Rangpur-3 and Kurigram-2 seats while Kishorgonj-6 was vacated after Zillur Rahman became the President.
It is worth mentioning that 45 seats of the Jatio Shangshad have been kept reserved for women members. Of these, Awami League will get 36, BNP 5 and Jatiyo Party 4 seats. Letters in this regard have already been sent to the Secretaries General of the three parties.

Meanwhile, yesterday was the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack on Professor Humaun Azad, the unconventional and versatile writer. He came under attack while leaving the book fair on this day in 2004. After some days, he passed away mysteriously at a hotel in Germany. Bangladesh Chatra Moitry illuminated candles and placed wreaths at the attack spot on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the assault on Humaun Azad.

Source text - English Bahrain will extend its sincere supports to Bangladesh in exporting manpower under the newly introduced Public-Private Partnership program. The assurance came when Crown Prince of Bahrain Sheikh Salman bin Hamad bin lsa Al Khalifa called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the Egyptian resort of Sharm-el-Sheikh on the sideline of the NAM summit today. The Crown Prince said, "Our government is ready to import Bangladeshi manpower under the Public-Private Partnership, PPP." He added that, if necessary, the two countries can work closely to form a joint commission in this regard. Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad, following the meeting, informed the journalists that the Crown Prince congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her assumption as the Prime Minister and hoped that the existing bilateral friendly relations between the two countries would further grow under her dynamic leadership. During the meeting, they also discussed wide ranging bilateral and multilateral issues including setting up of an Expatriate Welfare Bank in Bangladesh and expansion of trade and business between the two countries. On export of Bangladeshi manpower, Sheikh Hasina said, her government has taken steps to impart training to the overseas job seekers on foreign languages and laws of the respective countries before sending them abroad. She also said, her government is setting up a separate expatriate welfare bank for the welfare of the expatriates. Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes, Former Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin and Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad were present on the occasion.
