Hourly rate for medical validation

Hi!

I have been asked to carry out a medical review, which is not a grammatical or linguistic review. The client would like me to check that the final chosen medical terms are correct. How much should I add to my normal hourly rate (in percent)?

Hi Åsa,

First of all: Why do you think you should add something to your normal hourly rate? Does your normal hourly rate not reflect your expertise?

I would use my regular hourly rate multiplied by how long the work took me (including terminology and technical research, of course).

Thank you, Daniel. You are right. It's just that my regular client asked me what I charge for this service in particular, so I got the feeling it is rated higher for requiring specific expertise.

If the review is more complex, it will take longer. That is why it will cost more. No need to increase your rate. Just explain that it will take longer to do.
