I'm also looking for alternatives to paypal.
Bank transfer is a safe alternative, but it is too expensive for small amounts of money, at least here in South America. Furthermore, some agencies only transfer money to European banks, so they ask me to have a bank account in Europe (not in the Uruguayan branch of a European bank)!

I have not solved this problem either, but these are two options I have heard about. I don't have any experience with either of them. For both, you have to be a business, not just an individual. Since I have no corporate existence, I have not pursued them, but I might in the future.

Comfex was recommended by some people from the ATA German Division translators' list. It has a $15 transfer fee "outbound," no charges "inbound." Their representative told me that the big issue with any agency that transfers money, is the currency exchange rates, which vary greatly from one company to another. (He claimed theirs are lower, because of their high volume.)
Payoneer had a booth at the recent ATA conference in New York. It is a MasterCard, and charges a one-time fee of $9.95, after than $1.00 per transfer, plus exchange rates are "whatever MasterCard is charging that day."

I use this card to transfer payments to an associate in Italy and he really loves it. All wire transfers are free and it's Visa so you have access to cash anywhere in the world. He also uses it with different outsourcing companies in the states and the do the same free transfer. I use it in the states to receive my direct deposit because of the benefits it offers compared to other cards that have overdraft fees and a limited amount required to keep on the card. Ikobo was great for a while. The client paid me, and four minutes later, I could go to an ATM in Brazil and withdraw in cash. Very low transfer fees, excellent exchange rate. Then they had some organizational upheaval, got rid of two banks, and their systems admittedly went berserk: their system wouldn't acknowledge that my card had expired in order to allow issuing me a new one; conversely, I couldn't cancel my old card to get a new one, because it had expired anyway. A catch 55, i.e. a catch 22 upside down.
Then Ikobo changed their scope, and became P2P only. No business.
Then I found Revupcard - http;//www.revupcard.com - which seemed to be just like Ikobo, with the following differences:
- B2P only (what we - freelance translators - need)
- MasterCard instead of Visa (who cares?)
... nevertheless so far I haven't been able to find anyone who used it, nor any client willing to give it a try.

Our company does not use Moneybookers any longer. The main reason is that the account needs to be funded upfront. Since we are located in the States, we pay a $50 transfer fee every time we fund the account. If we fund the account with a large sum of money (so as not to have to pay the fee every time), we immobilize capital which is sure to be needed for other things (rent, salaries, employee health insurance, utilities, supplies and a thousand other expenses, which seem to find their way into ... Do you still use Payoneer? Has it worked out ok since your post? Can you receive payments from Canada or only from the US?
I´m looking for al alternative to PayPal since it doesn´t work in Argentina (you can pay with it but not extract the money from ATMs).

Fully satisfied.
Only problem: the interface is not very effective. If you make an error formatting the info, sometimes you get an error message, sometimes you don't. BUT you receive an immediate email confirming any transaction. So, if you don't receive it, get back: you did something wrong (like adding a useless dash somewhere!).
