Hi,
I downloaded and I'm trying out TO 3000 and from what I've seen so far I have no doubts that I'm going to register it, especially with the half price sale on at the moment.

When you're setting up clients in the database, the program uses the "C" drive as the default drive for setting up all the client folders and I can't seem to be able to change it. Hi,
I downloaded and I'm trying out TO 3000 and from what I've seen so far I have no doubts that I'm going to register it, especially with the half price sale on at the moment.

When you're setting up clients in the database, the program uses the "C" drive as the default drive for setting up all the client folders and I can't seem to be able to change it. I've clicked and placed the cursor before and after the "C" in the path route and I can't delete or overtype "C" with an alternative drive.

I have my computer partitioned with only the necessary windows programs on C so I really want everything for the business on a diffierent drive.

I've tried looking at the help topics and it just says the C is the default so I'm a bit worried that I'm not going to be able to change it. With all the folders it automatically creates for work in and out, I really don't want to use valuable C space for all our projects.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Added note: I originally installed the program on a drive other than C, but it still points to C for the client folders.

Found it! It was in advanced settings under folders

Thank you! May 19, 2007

Hi Mark,

I'm glad you solved your problem, since I wouldn't have been able to help you there - but I wanted to thank you for mentioning the half-price sale.
I already downloaded the trial version and will have a look at it. A price of EUR 79.50 does not seem to be very expensive for such a program. Thanks again!

Marion

Perfect time to buy May 19, 2007

Hi Marion,

Yes, the 50% discount makes it the perfect time to buy it and it's only valid until the 31st May as you've probably already seen. I bought the license just 5 minutes ago and with the added VAT it came to about 94 euros. I've spent quite a while on it, setting up the client database and transfering this months projects over and I've found it really easy to get to grips to, aside from my initial problem. I think it's going to be perfect for Chinese Concept's needs:)

I hope you have great success with it too!

Just a tip May 20, 2007

Make sure you put your client folders in a straightforward location, like C:/Client files. Trust me, you will use that folder more often than the software itself, and you will find it cumbersome to have to navigate to C:/Program Files/Translation/Translation Office 3000/TO3000/Client/Project/Target files.

I learned it the hard way - you don't have to

2 Qs about TO3000 May 22, 2007

Hi Mark,

I am thinking of getting TO3000 too, especially because of the discount. However, I have two questions:

1) I suppose Anycount comes with TO3000. Is this programme any good in counting Chinese characters in non WORD files, such as PDF?

2) Is it possible for Steffi and me to install and use TO3000 on two computers?

Denyce, the blah-er

Thanks May 23, 2007

Hi Viktoria,
Thank you for the tip and I can see what you mean. I ended up putting my/our files in my D drive because it has more free space and all of the files go within one file there so they are easy to navigate to.
Thanks for your advice, I read a lot of your posts on the subject when I was searching the forums and I found them really useful. I also read your article that you've written, it was extremely helpful!

Hi Miss Blah,
I would definitely recommend getting it. I'm not sure yet if it's enough for me on the tax accounting side of things because the process for recording expenses appears a bit limited but as for project management and setting up a solid database for clients, it's really great!

I didn't get "anycount" with it, I think you mau have to pay a bit extra for that. To be honest, when it comes to Chinese characters, unless the document is in Word format for Word to count the chars. I haven't found any other program tht does a good job and you may as well forget pdf! Anything Word can't handle, we charge by target word instead.

I think you can only use the license on one computer, I'm not sure but the thing is even if you installed them on yours and Steffi's, one of you would have to keep them both updated and in synch. We're trying to sort out a network connection and see if we can link TO on my computer to FG's so that he can access the database and view up to date information whenever he wants and also update it when I'm not available etc....haven't quite worked out how to do that yet though!! I'll keep you posted:)

Thanks and best wishes,
Mark
