Any one know of multiple search and replace shareware?

I'm looking for an app to search and replace the same term across multiple documents in a variety of formats (*.doc, *.htm...).


Any suggestions and/or experiences welcome!

It's a freeware program that may have some of what you're looking for. According to the information given here,
InfoRapid Search & Replace is one of the most powerful text retrieval programs currently available for Microsoft Windows. With its built-in converters, it's excellently suitable for searching and previewing HTML and RTF documents. In pure text files, the found text passages can be replaced after the search is over. The search and replace process can be automated with the help of batch files to replace several phrases in one step. The found documents can be opened in a preview window, in which the matches are highlighted. A special feature is that InfoRapid can use Microsoft Office converters to search WinWord, Excel, Lotus and other documents and preview them in their original layout.

Hi Margaret,

Do you know if it works with accents (and possibly special characters)?
That is a problem I have always had with Windows Search feature...

Just tried- it corrupts Latvian characters, but finds all the words none the less. When I just tried to copy corrupted text here, it pasted absolutely correcly...

Search and Replace from Funduc (http://www.funduc.com) is shareware, and the license is very reasonable ($25 IIRC). The license includes free updates for a year. I've bought a couple of new licenses for new computers, and because I'm an existing license holder, they were only $11.00 each. Doesn't get much more reasonable than that.

AFAIK, the free version has the same functionality as the licensed version, but of course, you don't get any updates. And I think there's a nag screen...
It allows you to search across all sorts of file types, including, but not limited to, .pdf, .xls, .html, .ttx, .doc, and so on, and you can search entire directories in one go. I often use it to search through the Microsoft glossaries. It's very fast and efficient.

I haven't had any problems replacing German diacritics with S&R. Since it is shareware, I think it may well be worth your while to give it a try.

This can be done with +Tools (PlusTools), an auxiliary template for WordFast and created by Yves Champollion. It's free and is nothing more than a .dot file.
