Converting itd. file to excel file Thread poster: Christiana Grunwald
|
Does anyone have an idea how to converte an itd.file to an excel file in order to see the translation in excel? I used the "Translation Preview" button but it doesn't work, always "Filter ID not recognised" is appearing. Could anybody help me?
Thanks very much in advance.

Hi Christiana,
You can only convert an itd file that was created from an xls file if the original xls file is in the same folder as the itd file. Also, the names of both files need to be identical (except for the extension, of course).
Hope this helps.

Hi Claudia,
thanks very much for your response. I could not solve the problem up to now and I tried to find out why. I think it is because I only have the sdlx lite program and the problem is that I don't have the original xls.file so the program is not able to find it and it doesn't work.

Dear Christiana,
Here is what I can suggest.
1) Export your itd file into HTML format using the File menu;
2) In a new HTML file "select all";
3) Open a new, empty Word file and paste the selected content;
4) Select the first column of the table and paste it into the first column of a new, empty Excel file. Then do the same with the second column. Then you have to adjust the excel columns.
Best, Vlad

Dear Christiana,
Why should one need to convert an .itd file to .xls if one has the original .xls file???
