English term

network television

English to Spanish Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Hola,

“This, by the way, is not Network Television, it’s Late Night Television. Little difference. This is actually day old food. We get a little special on it. Uh, it still tastes just as good.)

¿Qué quiere decir con "network television"?
Gracias

No sé

Comments:
In the United States, late night television is the block of television programming airing after 11:00 pm and usually through 2:00 am. Traditionally, this type of programming airs after the late local news and features a particular genre of programming that falls somewhere between a variety show and a talk show.

English term (edited): This, by the way, is not Network Television.

In a US context, "network television" would refer to the major networks ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, as opposed to the cable networks or independent outlets.

Suerte.

The dichotomy in your text is strange, since the contrast is usually between network television on the one hand, and cable/independents on the other, and not between "network" and late night TV. It is all the more confusing (and poses a big problem for translation) if the persons meeting are in fact working for a late-night program that is *on network television.*

Obviously, as I pointed out myself, NBC is one of the major networks. Had I known this up front, then I would not have offered the answer that I did.
