neutral Edward Plaisance Jr : I always try a "back translation" to see what it produces...while technically "undershoot" can mean "land early" I think many people would understand this suggestion to mean the plane landed at 5:15 instead of 5:30.

Thank you. In general you're right, but there is always a context there with which the reader is led to the sense the writer wants. We have heard lots in the news that:هواپیما به دلیل فرود زودهنگام دچار حادثه شد. Many thanks for your comment again.

Basically, "undershoot" means to land (or attempt to land) before where the runway starts. Since some of the other questions seem to be about an aircraft carrier, I am assuming this question on "undershoot" has to do with landing on an aircraft carrier. Aircraft carriers have special lighting systems that show the pilot whether he is overshooting or undershooting the deck.
