English term

solar hemorrhage

English to Polish Science Livestock / Animal Husbandry
Pojawia się w tekście dotyczącym kontrolowania stanu racic bydła. Chodzi mi głównie o słowo "solar". Oto kontekst: "Foot trimming in early lactation provides information about the presence of solar hemorrhages and prevents them turning into solar ulcers". Dziękuję.

krwiak podeszwy kopyta

A 1.5 year experiment on the effect of 2 different scheduled preventive claw trimming was performed in Kibbutz commercial dairy herd. All cows and heifers were trimmed twice a year by the same practitioners, blocked by parity and allocated randomly in one of 2 trimming methods: TT(timed trimming), CT(calendar trimming) .CT animals were trimmed twice a year ,six months distance.
TT cows were trimmed twice a year as described in picture no.1, respecting cows status in lactation and ration composition. The severity of lesions got scored:
White line disease, Panerizium according their appearance: 0/1
Laminitis: healthy claw =0, Horn overgrow=1, double claw=2, solar hemorrhage=3, solar ulcer=4.

The solar corium is the dermal layer underlying the solar surface that produces a superficially flaky epidermis. Sufficient solar depth is necessary to protect the underlying soft tissue and bony structures.

The sole is the sole, solar corium is the main term used for the vascular tissue between the sole and P3.

Below is from Pollitt, Equine Laminitis, Current Concepts May08. He has a good description of the horse leg anatomy at the start of this paper.

Please see here the picture of an equine foot (diagrammatic view of agittal section) and there is the solar corium very nicely described and I think leave solar corium as it is as it refers to Latin

SOLE ULCERS
Sole ulcers are a very painful type of non-infectious hoof lesion - usually located where the sole and heel bulb meet - where infection forms between the sole and the underlying tissues. They arise when the soft tissues inside the sole are damaged and normal horn cannot be produced for a number of reasons, but are often associated with trauma from stone bruises, for instance, and can cause severe mobility problems in dairy cattle. Sole ulcers can also be related to bleeding associated with sole bruising.

There is usually a time lag between the initial trauma and the development or observation of the sole ulcer lesion. Sole ulcers are often seen directly under where the pedal bone would sit, but hoof horn grows at a rate of around 5mm per month; the sole of the hoof is approximately 10-15mm thick, thus the trauma event causing the bruising is likely to have occurred up to three months earlier.

Sole ulcers commonly affect one or both of the outer hindclaws, particularly in bigger, high-yielding dairy cattle kept under conditions where cow comfort is poor. Where both hind feet are affected the symptoms may be masked. Sole ulcers are also common in dairy herds in which animals are managed in loose-housing systems with poor hygiene conditions.

If the corium is exposed, infection can enter the deeper structures of the claw and spread, causing serious problems and allowing abscesses to develop.

Note from asker:
The original copy clearly states "solar", however your clarifications certainly make sense - I had not associated "solar" as being derived from "sole". This would definitely shed light on this conundrum!
