Italian term

viene trascinata dal

Italian to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Contemporary Art review
I do not know what is meant here.

"E’ attraverso i vigorosi colpi di spatola che le posture statiche acquistano movimento, la polvere di fusagine viene trascinata dal colore ad oliocolore ad olio tipicamente pastoso,"

Discussion

Lara Barnett (asker) Oct 22, 2018:
@ Phil I am assuming that the "polvere" is a smudgy deposit left by the loose material on the charcoal stick.
Lara Barnett (asker) Oct 22, 2018:
Drag My reason for posting is because I think "dragged", which seems to be the literal translation here, sounds a bit odd. I am looking for suitable synonyms or other ways to describe this. I am aware that this is what the Italian says and we should not really re-write the text, but does it really work in English in terms of what is probably some smudging from the charcoal?
Lara Barnett (asker) Oct 22, 2018:
Typos Sorry, I maybe did not notice typos. Full text is:

"E’ attraverso i vigorosi colpi di spatola che le posture statiche acquistano movimento, la polvere di fusaggine viene trascinata dal colore ad olio tipicamente pastoso, ancora carico di ogni sua proprietà corporea. "

ps. Thanks Fiona, obviously a misspelling in source text.

I'm not clear what "polvere di fusagine" is, and I think "colore ad oliocolore ad olio" has to be wrong.

If you don't like dragged then maybe you could say
swept along with

maybe that is more in line with the quick movements of the spatula

"being streaked," or "streaks"

I wouldn't worry about taking some liberties translating such text related to art.
You may also consider using "spatula strokes" earlier.
