German term

Schüttung

German to English Tech/Engineering Physics
Einfluß der mittleren Schüttungstemperatur - durchströmte Länge der Schüttung

all in connection with a catalysis. Would simply "fill" be correct? TIA.

Discussion

swisstell (asker) Mar 21, 2007:
Cilian continued ... to spare you more browsing, here is the answer again> "Catalysis is the acceleration of a chemical reaction by a catalyst" or even shorter: "A catalytic force". - I could also give it in longer version but that would again - see KM - be missing the point and the real question of Schüttung.
swisstell (asker) Mar 21, 2007:
Cilian, and I also answer his so-called question on CATALYSIS, although that was not my question at all. To spare you
swisstell (asker) Mar 21, 2007:
Cilian, that's what it may appear to the innocent bystander but the truth is what you find in my comments to KM.
Cilian O'Tuama Mar 21, 2007:
I believe Kim's Q was what is "a" catalysis? But maybe it's not so important.
swisstell (asker) Mar 21, 2007:
to Ingeborg: sorry, but the word appears only twice and in connectin with a graph. The whole thing is about ... ..."Anwendung von Zeolithen bei der selektiven katalytischen Reduktion von NOx in Industrieabgasen" (I am not up to here yet in my work).
Ingeborg Gowans (X) Mar 20, 2007:
more context please? Maybe kcda's suggestion would fit, but it's hard to tell
Kim Metzger Mar 20, 2007:
What's "a catalysis"?

Selected

bed (in this context, catalyst bed)

De Vries & Kolb, Wörterbuch der Chemie und der der chemischen Verfahrenstechnik, does not list Schüttung explicitly, but gives Schüttungshöhe = height of bed
Peer comment(s):

agree Cetacea : I may be a little bit late, but I absolutely agree. :-)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "seems to fit in this context, more so as there is also talk - in a different graph -about Wanderbettreaktor. Thank you both, Jack and Kcda!"

I am bnot sure of this but might provide clues for further research into the subject. Please observe the reference link I haven given to as where I have found thid term.

I am sorry for the misspellings. I wrote the above in a hurry since I did not have a solid answer. Hence I wanted to just provide the link for researching into as quick as possible.
