German term
edel verchromt
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Metallurgy / Casting
This comes from a product catalogue's description of a baby carriage:
"edel verchromte Speichenfelgen im klassischen Kinderwagenlook"
I'm not entirely sure about the "edel". Does this mean something like "gold or silver chrome-plated"?
Thank you in advance

: Sounds good. I don't think the "edel" has a metallurgical meaning.

Nothing to do with silver and gold - unless it's a luxury baby carriage!

The poor tykes have to roll in a carriage with "plain" chrome wheels - no gold or silver in sight...

Donald Scott Alexander
: This translation seems better because, like the source term, it's also an adjective. Also, translating "edel" as "premium" rather than "high-quality" seems better. (In Brazilian TV, "prime time" is "hora nobre," another example of 'prime'='noble'.)

superior chrome finish
quite the marketing adjective when they want to sell something "elite".

: Yes, why not? It really depends on the overall tone of the text. Sometimes advertisers tend to go a little bit over the top in an effort to impress customers.
